"Corporate Governance is about how an organisation is managed, its corporate and other structures, its culture, its policies and the ways in which it deals with its various stakeholders."
Commonwealth Auditor General, 2000.
In general terms, Corporate Governance (as represented in the diagram) gives a structure and a consistency to the way we go about our day-to-day activities at Tenix. It guides us, and demonstrates to others, how we do business with customers and suppliers. It also provides structure - how the organisation fits together across a wide range of activities and locations and includes our shared values of Safety and the Environment, Integrity, Teamwork, Leadership, Innovation and Improvement, and Tenacity. And of course, it is reflected in all of our colleagues through our skills and workplace activities, and how we relate to each other to get the job done.
Corporate Governance is not an end in itself. It's a way of bringing together all the factors we need for success in a clear, repeatable way, to help all business units in Tenix achieve their goals.
Corporate Governance combines people... passion ... culture ... principles ... processes ... leading to, of course, positive outcomes - so that we can honestly and ethically, produce the best possible products and provide high quality services, time after time. Governance helps us to remain committed to growing the business and to make sure that we act responsibly within the business community. Good governance also requires us to be accountable for our actions, to comply with the terms of our authority and delegations, and to accept independent and peer reviews.
Corporate Governance is an essential component in the success of the Company.
